DAY 37 HEADING EAST TOWARDS THE GRAND CANYON, ARIZONA

                        DAY 37            Sun. July 24

We got up and had a fast breakfast so that we could get on the road. We have about 6 hours of driving to get to Williams, Arizona. We want to get settled in tonight and then ride the train tomorrow to the Grand Canyon. It seemed like it is taking forever to get there. The girls want to go to sleep but it is starting to get hot in here. So they are going to go back and forth. We are not on the coast anymore. We made it to Arizona.

We started seeing signs for Route 66 everywhere. We pulled off the exit to get some gas and we could say that we were on route 66. The gas was $4.19  gallon..ouch especially since we had to start the generator again going down the road. We need it for the AC.  We started to go up a small hill on down the road and the RV started to make a strange sound. It was almost like we were out of gas but we have half of a tank. We made it to an exit and was across the street from a gas station. We stopped at the red light and once it turned green the engine just quit. We tried to start it and it would crank but we were stuck again. I was on the phone again with AAA. Guess what GOD is on this trip with us. A highway patrol officer was driving by at that moment and he helped to get the RV off the ramp and on the side of the road after 23 minutes on the phone with AAA, I went out to ask Thad a question about the RV and there was already a tow truck out there. I told the lady never mind and we started packing some clothes. Thad decided to try to get it to start once again before got towed. Remember I said that God was with us.....IT STARTED. We went across the road to a service station and then found out how blessed we are when the tow truck driver told us that he wasn't going to charge us for coming out and there was a campsite right behind were we were parked. Stuff like that just doesn't happen everyday. Sometimes life is a test and it is all in how you react to it. We decided to once again make the best of it. Trust me we could have been in bad shape sitting on the side of the road burning up still waiting for the AAA lady to get us a tow truck. We were at our campsite within 30 minutes of breaking down. Thad and the boys headed to the pool and I started to catch up on the blog while the girls played games on the ipod. We decided to go to the pool as well. Thad was laid out on a couch while the boys swam and we jumped in to join them. Thad went to the RV to get the laundry since it was right by the pool then we all swam for awhile.

It didn't take long for Paisley to want to go back to the RV. I put the clothes in the dryer and headed back with her. Thad and the kids came back with the clothes and were ready to eat. We started the grill and Kali, Paisley, Thad, and I sat outside to hangout for awhile. The big kids sat inside and watched The Dukes of Hazard again. It was so funny the other night Thad asked the kids what movie that they wanted to watch and Mitchell said Daisy Duke. Thad said the name is Dukes of Hazard not Daisy Duke. I guess I can't blame him I would be worried if he didn't like to watch it because of Daisy Duke. We had supper and watched more of The Dukes of Hazard while Thad enjoyed being outside comfortably with no shoes and no shirt. We had to pop popcorn just like almost every other night to keep Paisley full all night. We are happy and full and laying around like a bunch of old yard dogs as Thad says. Well we won't make it to the Grand Canyon tomorrow but we will one day . We are going to take the RV over tomorrow and get it checked out and go from there. We will stay positive, happy, and keep you updated with how it turns out.  Goodnight
