DAY 9 CHICO HOT SPRINGS

DAY 9
Our view at the campsite

We woke up at 8:00 this morning. The boys headed straight over to the game room to play pool, but they don't open until 9:00. We ate some cereal and started washing clothes. They kept playing pool in between loads and I headed over to update the blog. They didn't have any church services here but we do hope they have them at the next campsite on Sunday. We finished the clothes and then headed to a town called Chico Hot Springs a few miles down the road. Thad, Mitchell, and Alexa are going to ride horses and the rest of us are going to check out the hot springs.
This is a picture of Thad showing Mitchell how to wash dishes....how funny is that?

That is the only way that you could get in a pool here....it is cold, but better than Yellowstone. The nice cowboy, Ralph led Kali around on a horse when I asked him to let her take a picture with a horse. She was thrilled. She wanted me to tell him that she had rode a horse at her Uncle Steve's and wanted me to ask what the horses name was.( It was Tarzan)

Kali on Tarzan

Alexa on Reuben

Mitchell on Hercules

Thad on Chessie
She also got to pet a little wiener dog.

We walked through the gift shop because Thad and I are trying to find a nice sweatshirt, but so far we are to cheap to buy one. They are $45 here. I just think that is crazy....
We saw this in the resort

We headed over to find the springs and found a place to eat. They make you walk through a restaurant to get to the springs of course. We decided to get us something to eat and then get in the hot springs. They had elk and bison burger in the menu that I would have loved to have tried, but we decided to stick with pizza because we knew that we would eat that and I was hungry. We tried elk jerky a few days ago and it wasn't our favorite.  The pizza was good and then I took the kids over to get in the springs. I thought that it might be too hot for me to get in so I got at the end that was 2 feet and put Kali's floaties on and put Paisley in her float. I put my feet in so I could hang on to the float. They loved it. There is another section that is even hotter like a hot tub but they add cold water to the big side in the summer time.

This place used to be a hotel and now they have shops, horse riding, a place to stay, spa, saloon, and the poolside grille. President Roosevelt once stayed here. I thought that was pretty neat.  After they got finished riding horses they came over and finished up the pizza and we headed back for the RV park. We are going to stay here another night. We stopped by the store to pick up stuff for tacos. That is Mitchell's request for supper. I am ready for some grilled chicken so tonight it will be a variety. Tacos, chicken, salad, and baked potato. (yum, yum)  When we got back to the campsite, Kali and Paisley had fallen asleep.

It didn't take long for Paisley to wake up but it didn't stop me from trying to get her to go back to sleep. Thad decided he wanted to take a nap as well. It didn't take him long to go to sleep and Paisley kept grabbing his face, so we got up and went outside. We ended up going to the game room and I updated the blog while Paisley played. I heard the kids outside so I motioned for them to come over to play pool. I thought that would be better that waking up Kali and Thad. We are going to head over to the gift shop to check it out before we get supper ready. We walked backed over to the camper and  Kali and Thad woke up so I started cooking tacos and Thad put the chicken on the grill. We had supper and then I headed to the bathhouse while the kids watched a movie. I came back and gave Paisley a bath while the rest of them played with a volleyball. Everyone else had their showers and then it was time for bed again.  The kids started working on their journals. I am going to put some random shots at the end of this post.

I forgot to tell you Kali thought that this guy looked like Buckshot.

  1. Heather, Thanks for the update on Thad. He looks like a real cowboy up on that horse. I was glad to see a picture of you, since you take most of the photo's (and do a splendid job), it was good to see all the pictures of the family. Maybe there will be more vacations like this in your future. Tell Thad to behave and not have too much fun. We miss you guys and can't wait to hear all of the stories you will have. Maybe, when you get rested up we could get you and the kids and Thad to take a Sunday Night at church and do a slide show and talk about your trip. Just think about it. I know many people would be excited to hear about your travels. Also, thanks for the blog. Yvonne and I are praying daily for you all. Take care of that little one too..
